Pantech Breakout Final Review

pti

After about a week using the Pantech Breakout as a backup device, these are my opinions of the device and its software. One thing I definitely forgot to mention was the 3G and 4G speeds I observed. When I was on 3G, the speeds were slightly faster than my Droid X (also a 3G device on Verizon’s network), averaging about 1.5Mbps download, and 750Kbps upload, where my Droid X is usually less than 700Kbps up and down.
On 4G, the slowest speeds I saw were 6Mbps download, 3Mbps upload, and as high as 32Mbps download, 14Mbps upload, MUCH higher than Verizon’s promised speeds.

Will you add EMAIL FEED??? I want to receive an email everytime you post, is this so difficult? Thanx

Sorry about that. Think I got it set up now. I have my site feed piped out to FeedBurner, and they provide an option to email on updates. There’s a subscription box at the side of the site now.

THANX! Already suscribed. Now I’m gonna see you in your site instead of YT. I think a lot of people would like to know the “Mail-Feed-Available” News. Post it!

Nice review, but can you do a video of what you can do with Ubuntu and Android, e.g. I did this with my Samsung Galaxy S II, I installed on my Ubuntu Coherence DLAN/UPnP-client, and on my phone iMS iMediaShare and I now can watch Videos streaming from my phone with Totem player in Ubuntu. I also installed MythTV on Ubuntu, and tested and am able to watch streaming video from MythTV videos, with my Galaxy, if the videos were originally shooted with my Galaxy, but I could not watch other video formats, e.g. the one I have used to make videos to youtube (avi) I tried to convert it to mp4, but it did not play on Galaxy. Can you figure it out, what is the trick. I have a Terratec T3 usb TV receiver that I use for MythTV.

Agree with the buttons issue. It seems to be nice but pantech are not my favourite phones… I’d like to see a nokia N9 with meego, check the OS out and see if they’re gonna compete with andriod phones in the future
