This Week In Linux: Fedora 13 Beta Gnome LiveCD First Look!

Wow, another long video. I tried to cut as much out as possible without losing content (meaning all of the “dead space”) but it’s still 8 and a half minutes. Hope you enjoy this first look at the Fedora 13 Beta!

While testing, do note that this bug is still present

    Hopefully fixed soon…

Rahul: I will have to try my printer on Fedora 13 and see how different the automatic driver install is then!

I will download the latest version to test the backup software, thanks!

I have briefly tested the 3D Nouveau support, and it’s definitely very nice. I will be looking at Pino shortly. I traditionally use Gwibber, but it’s nice to try new things.

    Thanks for the comment!

The security alerts you get in login are from SELinux. Likely fixed via updates

Although Ubuntu (and Mandriva) uses system-config-printer from Fedora, the automatic driver installation for printers is a very unique feature for Fedora 13. You will see it in other distros in another six months

I actually main backup software you took a look at and a few important bug were fixed in updates. Please get them and test them again.

Shotwell and simple-scan are both new in this release as defaults

I also recommend taking a look at the experimental support for 3D via Nouveau. We also included Pino twitter/identi.ca client by default for the general release. Check that out as well.
