We believe recent NVIDIA UNIX graphics drivers are affected by a recently reported fan speed issue in 195.36.08 and 195.36.03.
Until the problem is resolved, we recommend that UNIX users revert to the 190.53 web release, or the 195.30 public beta.

[..YouTube..] They should just open source their drivers. With many more eyes looking at it, this kind of a bug would never have gotten through or it would have been caught and fixed earlier.

[..YouTube..] I recently bought a Radeon 5770 and I have to say ATI has come a long, long way on their drivers for Linux. 10.2 doesn’t have quite the functionality in Linux as Windows but as far as ease of use it has it beat hands down.

[..YouTube..] from what I’ve read, the open source Nouveau drivers are supposed to be pretty sweet. When Fedora 13 comes out, I’m definitely going to give them a fair shake.
[..YouTube..] I <3 Fedora because it saved me when Ubuntu failed me. Not to say I don’t <3 Ubuntu, because it’s what actually brought me into Linux full-time.
[..YouTube..] I know the FGLRX drivers in Ubuntu weren’t half bad the last time I tried them, but I’ve had quite a bit more luck with the Nvidia proprietary drivers (especially with HDMI connectivity / external monitors). And for some reason the ATI drivers don’t work in Fedora 12 (and may not in Fedora 13?)

[..YouTube..] I’m still currently using ATI video cards right now, should I move on to Nvida video cards? My ATI HD 4650 works perfect with Ubuntu 9.10 on my gaming laptop, but I dunno if I should take it in and get it exchanged for the Nvida Geforce. Help anyone?
[..YouTube..] I used to be a huge fan of ATI, back when I used to build systems all the time. After I started using Linux, I’m not so much a fan now. The FGLRX drivers just aren’t that good… of course I say that and the desktop I ordered today has an ATI card in it (preconfigured, couldn’t help it). Guess we’ll see what a newer/faster machine will do, eh?

[..YouTube..] well, i need help with my nvidia card, after instaled in my ubuntu 9.10, my settings don’t save… i try Alt + F2, type gksudo nvidia-settings, set the resolutions and click apply, close the window and restart the system, after system started my config erase, and i can’t edit the xorg.conf, my video card is geforce 6200, where i can learn to edit my xorg.conf to fix it? (Sorry my bad english :p)
[..YouTube..] @thelocs to edit your xorg.conf, the easiest way would probably be to hit alt+f2 then type “gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf” (make sure the X in X11 is capitalized).

[..YouTube..] @dekaband should be the same ones Ubuntu has, and it looks like you’ve got at least 2 options with that, the 173 version and the 195 version.

A bit late but another method in Ubuntu is:
System/Administration/Hardware Drivers
This will check for your current proprietary driver (if u have one) & allow you to deactivate it and choose to activate another version from the list at the top.
